Antonia Vasilakou is an educator in physical theatre. She was born in Athens in 1979 where she studied, theatre, music and French Language and Literature from the University of Athens.
She continued her studies graduating from the International School of Mimodrama of Marcel Marceau in Paris (2005).
In parallel, she obtained a postgraduate diploma with specialization on Theatre and Performing Arts (DEA-Théâtre et Arts du Spectacle) from the Faculty of Letters, Languages and Spectacles of the University Paris X- Nanterre (2005).
In 2014, she obtained her PhD on Theatre and the Arts of the Representation from the University of Paris Nanterre with “First Class Honors”.
She just graduated from a her second Master II in Theatre Directing and Dramaturgy from the University of Nanterre (2018).
Antonia Vasilakou continued her formation through various drama workshops.
In Paris: Workshop in the Théâtre du Soleil with Ariane Mnouchkine (2009), annual workshop with Théâtre du Mouvement (2007-2008) - Yves Marc and Claire Heggen, several workshops of corporal mime in the Studio Hippocamp and with Thomas Leabhart (2006-2007).
In Athens: Workshops on Ancient Greek Drama with Th. Terzopoulos-Savvas Stroumpos (Attis Theatre), Aris Retsos, Nikaiti Kontouri, Lydia Koniordou and two years of physical theatre with Costas Philippoglou – Frosso Korrou (J. Lecoq and Complicité creative theatre), Aspasia Kralli.
She participated also in classes and seminars on classic ballet (Yves Casati-Opera de Paris), contemporary dance (Felix Ruckert, Nathalie Pubelier), contact dance in CanalDanse and with Jessica Henou and ‘’Athenian Rhythmic with Claudia Castellucci (Societas Raffaelo). She is also a certified instructor of Hatha Yoga (200hrs).
She obtained also a Diploma in Superior Theoretical Studies in Music Harmony from the Odeon of Konstantinos Konstantaras.
Antonia Vasilakou directed performances. Her works have been presented in Greece and in France. She is an artistic co-directing member of the association Illustrations Confuses with whom created and performed (https://www.illustrationsconfuses.com/past-productions)
The last years, she is a collaborator of the French street theatre company Teatro del Silencio with which she has toured in France, Spain, Chile and Netherlands.
She is a member of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute as well and the Hellenic Theatre Studies Association (GR)
She is teaching from 2008 the courses on Physical Theatre and Mime on the University of Peloponnese.
