YANNIS LEONTARIS

Natascha Siouzouli is Assistant Professor of European Theatre Studies and Performance at the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese. She holds a BA (1997) from the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens, Greece, as well as a PhD (2006) from the Institute of Theatre Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany (under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Erika Fischer-Lichte). Between 2006 and 2018 she was senior research assistant at the Institute of Theatre Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and research fellow at the International Research College Interweaving Performance Cultures (Berlin, Germany).

She taught theatre history and theory at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and the Ghent University (Belgium). She currently teaches also at the MA course Performing Arts of the Hellenic Open University.

Her research interests comprise, among others, the notions of presence and absence in performance, the history, ideology and aesthetics of theatre festivals, documentary and applied theatre, the ethical and political implications of aesthetics. Her recent book, Ethical Militancy – The Workings of Aesthetics, was published by Neofelis (Berlin) in 2022.

She also woks as a translator and dramaturg.
