Athanasios Blesios, Associate Professor

blesiosAthanasios G. Blesios is Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre Studies in the University of Peloponnese and vice dean in the Faculty of Arts in which belongs the Department of Theatre Studies. His concrete specialization field is “Comparative Dramaturgy of the Modern Greek Theatre in association with Literature”. He mainly teaches History and Dramaturgy of the modern Greek but also of the world theater. He is a graduate of the University of Athens. Since 1990 he made postgraduate studies in Paris, at the University Paris IV Sorbonne. In 1997 he obtained his PhD at the same University by supporting the doctoral thesis entitled Le “théâtre d 'idées” en Grèce de 1895 à 1922. Then, he made postdoctoral research at the University of Athens concerning the social, political and national dimension of important Greek literary works mainly during the first decades of the 20th century. Since 2001 he has taught at the University of Patras and later at the University of Athens. He also teaches at the Open University. He was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Peloponnese in 2005. He has written and edited four books and prepares two others in Greek and French language. His essays, in journals, books and conference proceedings, concern mainly modern Greek theater, several times in connection with the wider European, but also modern Greek literature.
